    Description

    World War I
    British South Staffordshire Regiment soldier's Grouping of eight (8) items:
    1)
    1914 Star
    2)
    British War Medal and
    3) The Victory Medal
    All three medals have identification engraving. The engraving shows the recipient's rank to be Corporal,
    but he may have achieved a higher rank by he time he was discharged.
    4) The ("King and Empire") Silver War Badge (numbered) and
    5) Cap BADGE of the South Staffordshire Regiment (unmarked).
    This regiment was created in 1881 under the Childers Reforms by the amalgamation of the 38th (1st Staffordshire) Regiment of Foot and the 80th (Staffordshire Volunteers) Regiment of Foot. The regiment saw service in the Second Boer War, World War I and World War II. Nickname: "the South Staffordshire Knots" It may have been considered an "elite" unit during the era of this Grouping (World War I).
