BACKGROUND - With the tremendous box office success in 1938 of "Snow White," Walt Disney Studios decided to try and market their animation art. Disney felt that since so much talent, time, and effort went into the creation of each illustration, they should be marketed as true works of art and not just trivial movie memorabilia. So Disney's marketing department made arrangements to sell its art through the Courvoisier Gallery, located in San Francisco. Measures 13" X 15".

This is a reproduction of one of the famous Disney originals which have created so much interest in art circles here and abroad. The originals are water color paintings on celluoid actually used in the production of a Walt Disney animated picture. They are limited in number and have been acquired by art collectors and museums because of their artistic and historical importance.
Notable among the twenty-two museums possessing Disney originals are" The Metropolitan Museum of Art, of New York; Cleveland Museum of Art; William Rockhill Nelson Gallery of Art, Kansas City, Missouri; The San Francisco Museum of Art; Honolulu Academy of Arts.
