    Description

Up for sale is this Original Revolutionary War Era New Hampshire State Document Signed Meshech Weare and Ebenezer Thompson, naming Jonathan Eaton Coroner of Rockingham County, January 17, 1779. Document is framed, it measures about 16 1/2” x 11 3/4” including frame, visible document about 11 3/4” x 6 1/2”. I haven’t examined it out of the frame, but you can see staining and fold lines present. A very unique and early piece of New Hampshire’s history.
Meshech Weare (1713-1786) Revolutionary Statesman. Weare was the chairman of the committee of safety at the outset of the Revolution. He was elected president of the state of New Hampshire in 1776 and was chief justice of the state's highest court the "Superior Court of Judicature" from 1776 to 1782. He also served as presiding officer of the Council, then part of the upper house of the legislature. He managed to hold that position throughout the American Revolution.
