No matter what size your aquarium, Instant Ocean sea salts and water care products offer the smartest, easiest way to bring to ocean home. Our scientifically formulated sea salts are used exclusively by many of leading large-scale aquariums and research facilities across the country. Instant Ocean Sea Salt is the most carefully formulated and universally preferred sea salt in the world. The #1 choice of hobbyists, public aquariums, and scientific research facilities, Instant Ocean Sea Salt has set the industry standard for quality, consistency, and value for more than 50 years. Mix Instant Ocean with ordinary dechlorinated tap or purified water. NOTE: To prepare small quantities, use 1/2 cup of Instant Ocean per each U.S. gallon of water. Mix as directed. Stir vigorously to ensure a good mix. Although the Instant Ocean solution may be used immediately, we suggest aerating the water until it achieves oxygen/carbon dioxide equilibrium. Measure specific gravity with an Instant Ocean Hydrometer. Adjust salt level accordingly. If specific gravity is too low, add more Instant Ocean. lf too high, add more dechlorinated water. Change 20% of aquarium water every two weeks to maintain optimum water quality. NEVER mix salt in an aquarium containing animals. Recommended Specific Gravity Range - 1.020 - 1.024 at 77°F.

    Customer Reviews:
    1. so the great thing about this, is I use to buy the 5 gallon salt buckets. MAN one drop of water in there and no you are chiseling your way through the chunks of hard salt now. This box actually has individual bags, so if one bag got wet, it will only affect that bag, the rest of the salt is safe. it happens sometimes when i use my scooper to put the salt into the RO water to make my salt water and a splash will hit the handle or the 5 gallon bucket and then its all over.. I like it better this way for me.
    2. I have used so many salts over the years I have forgotten some of the ones that I've used. I used stuff that ran me 0 for a "Tall" 5 gallon bucket (probably like 7.5 gallons) that was lab certified to be this or that. I started to realize that I kept buying different salt every time it was time to buy salt, one thing I have learned is that consistency does pay off. I don't know if this is the best salt in the world, but I'm sticking with it. It is economical, it dissolves easily, my water parameters test good with it. I run a mixed reef with it and corals are doing their thing, fish are swimming, and everyone seems happy.
    3. Mixes quickly and very stable. I suggest spending the extra the first time and getting the 160 gallon bucket. Then buy the 200 gallon pack after that which has 4 50 gallon bags in it. Open them up 2 at a time as needed and put in the bucket. The bucket has a very nice, airtight o-ring seal on it. I have been using the same bucket for over 5 years and the salt is always dry and ready for use. I leave a 2 cup measure in the bucket which is perfect for filling a 5 gallon home depot bucket with 4 gallons of saltwater (and extra headroom so it doesn't slosh) at the proper salinity of 1.025.
