    Chinese export silver
    hand raised
    shell & floral
    cream jug.
    From the Canton work shop of
    Kecheong.
    Believed to have been originally owned by
    a Salem Massachusetts
    China trade merchant
    Captain Peele.
    A nearly identical design
    from a Kecheong contemporary,
    Wongshing,
    illustrated page 180
    Dr. Crosby Forbes's
    China trade text.
    Period engraved
    Gothic initials,
    H(?) F. P.
    for Captain Peele.
    The c1840 Captain Peele Chinese silver cream jug 6 1/2 inches handle to
    spout 5 3/4 tall and weighs 20 standard ounces.
    Hallmarked as shown, the identical hallmark in Forbes's text.
    In very fine condition.
    Appears little used.
    Rich sterling patina.
    Retains original hand made detail.
