    Description

Antique WWI Memorial Plate Death Mourning Ridgeways British Soldier Plaque Army
Available is this memorial plate made during WWI.  The plate was for relatives to purchase and fix a photograph of their loved ones lost in the war. The famous motto "England Expects That Every Man Will Do His Duty And ____ Did His", is not the bottom of the plate.  The motto is from Horatio Nelson.
The images feature on the right the "Admiral of the Fleet, The Earl Jellicoe" and on the left "The Earl Kitchener" a senior army office who achieved great fame on the battlefield.
It was made by Ridgeways but is unmarked except for a "9" on the back.  Measures 9.75 inches across. The plate is in good condition, with no chips, cracks or repairs.  There is some crazing to the finish and some glaze pops on the back.  This is a rare one - don't miss it!
